Inspired by the ancient art of Japanese Raku pottery, the Earth’s Monument offers a spectacular way to memorialize a loved one. Due to the nature of the process, no two Raku urns are exactly alike making your urn truly one of a kind. The handcrafting process entails heating a ceramic urn in a kiln until it reaches 2000 degrees. It is then removed from the heat and plunged into wood shavings which ignite instantly.
After smoldering overnight, radiant flashes of color appear. After cooling, the urn is topped with a collection of sticks and stones. The cap rests on top of the opening. We recommend that you glue the cap to create a permanent seal.
Size: 11 1/2 inches high
Capacity: 210 Cubic Inches of Remains (Equal to 210 pounds before cremation)
Opening: Top Loading. Can be sealed with glue.

Because each urn is handmade and fired individually, there are variations and imperfections in the color which make the urn one of a kind. The colors of your particular urn will vary somewhat from that shown in the photo.
We are often asked if it is possible to select an Earth’s Monument Raku urn that contains a particular set of colors or a pattern of hues. These urns are shipped directly from a warehouse, so, unfortunately, we cannot choose an individual piece. However, we understand that this is a special, once in a lifetime purchase and will accept returns (only if the urn is unused) for any reason within 7 days of receipt. Please see our return policy for full details.
